    Midcentury Modern Bucks County Robert Whitley Rocking Chair Nakashima Contemporary!
    For sale we have an original “Whitley Rocker,” of midcentury modern design. This exquisitely sculpted rocking chair was designed and produced by Robert C. Whitley and is signed on the bottom:
    “An original furniture design by Robert Whitley Solebury, Bucks County, Pa.”
    The wood is highly grained and has a warm color and smooth finish.
    We are unsure whether this chair is made of walnut or teakwood.
    It is in very good condition, with wear consistent with its age and use.

    Robert C. Whitley (1924-2020) was a master woodworker and furniture designer from Bucks County.
    He was a contemporary of George Nakashima.
    Whitley’s furniture can be found in the White House, the Smithsonian Museum, and other prestigious collections.
